Within the first 15 seconds of my first group ride, the little voice whispered do this. Life has not been the same since.
I remember the first time I tried chasing a friend up a mountain on my road bike. I ended up on the side of the road, legs burning, struggling to catch my breath. It was a rough start, but I quickly found myself wanting more.
At the age of 27, I discovered what the bike had to offer beyond my 1 mile commutes. Over the course of a few years, I went from barely finishing the beginner group rides, to exploring the northern mountains of Georgia.
I rediscovered cycling at the age of 22, when I moved to Reno, Nevada from Upstate New York. I had just finished one year of driving an 18 wheeler all across America, and I had fallen in love with the mountains of the American West, seeing them for the first time from behind the wheel.
